Day 9 Three Gorges Dam
The Yangtze River has a history of flooding, causing much damage. The Three Gorges Dam was designed to lessen the chance of serious flooding and create hydroelectric power. It spans the Yangtze River and lies near the town of Sandouping. The Dam body was completed in 2006, 26 turbines were installed in 2008, and the last 6 won't be completed or functional until 2012.
