Day 12 Fengdu
Fengdu is also known as the "City of Ghosts" for its significance in Chinese mythology. Ironically it has literally become a ghost town, as most of its residents have been relocated due to the rising river level. Despite this fact, it's our next stop on our tour. Today we had the choice to either see Snow Jade Cave or visit Fengdu New Town. It was built as a result of the Three Gorges Dam project and has grown to become a thriving cultural and economic center in the span of only a few years. James, my mom and I did the city tour, while my dad ventured into the caves. We were treated to a show by the local senior citizens. Some of the tour members took part in the festivities.
