Suzhou Silk Factory

The top two photos are showing one of the many ways silk can be used. The silk fabric is made into these small pieces which are stretched out by 3-4 women (or too many people from a tour group). They are then layered over one another to create the filling for silk comforters. They were showing us how strong the silk is and how it stays in place once inside the covering, unlike down or cotton comforters. Some of the silk fabric is made by hand and others, such as the bottom photo, are made by a machine.
