Arrival in Jaipur!
We arrived by train in the afternoon and stayed in a hotel owned by a friend of Noopur's family. She was our guide and watchful eye while we were in the city. We spent the day walking around and looking at some stores. Jaipur is known as a wonderful shopping city. They have beautiful block printed fabrics and lots of markets where you can find Rajasthani handicrafts. In the evening we went to Chokhi Dhani for dinner. It's an area recreated to feel like a typical Rajasthani village. We had Rajasthani thali on traditional floor seating and watched different types of entertainment. I took the video above b/c I wasn't quite sure what I was watching. One of the little kids dancing jumped down off the stage and tried to get us to dance. We also got free and really crappy Mehandi done. After that night it just looked like we had some weird skin disease on our arms. We also contributed to the misuse of animals by paying the equivalent of 50 cents to ride an elephant.
